Being dishonest can do harm not only to others but also toourselves,thus,we must get aware of the importance of boycoting it.Take the caseof the Sanlu powder for example.After drinking Sanlu fake powder,lots of babiesgot sick and had big heads,nevertheless,their bodies still thin.People hatefultoo much,the Sanlu corporation expectedly get punished and never have choice tomake up their faults.
When it comes to the significances of being honest,I consider,we will makegood relationship bewteen others,such as in the school ,in the busineand in thesociety.Furthermore,only if we are honest to others can others become friendlyto us.Therefore,cultivate a virtue of honesty and we will get better.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
My topic is Honesty. As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News, Ivisited Dr. James Gilman, the President of the International Committee for MarcoPolo Studies in England. In this picture, this is James, and this is me and weare looking at a dragon’s tooth. This is a true story.
65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. Heoften visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there,which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted oneto keep as a treasure.
In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had toleave. On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one ofthe teeth from the dragon’s mouth.
He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at havingstolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on hisconsience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided toput right his childish error. In 20_, he visited Qingdao and returned it to theAquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome.
When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported onhis visit. I was deeply touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I thinkto err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correctone’s error.
Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep anhonest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of myfriends: Let’s be honest people of good moral character.

it is true that most of us value honesty highly. however, nowadays we oftenconfront confidence crisis such as cheating, overcharging, fake commodities andso on. i think that we should be honest because being honest is not onlybeneficial to ourselves but also to others and the whole society. the reasonscan be listed as follows.firstly, only honest people can be truly respected bythe others and can make more friends over a long period of time.
secondly, honesty, which is the traditional virtue of the chinese people,can make our life easier and more harmonious. thirdly, honesty can make oursociety more stable. a case in point is that singapore, a society featuringtrustworthiness and integrity, has a comparatively low criminal rate.
responsbility can be understood in many ways. for the parents , they havehad the responsibility for caring for and fostering their children since thebirth of their baby.for teachers,both in kindergartens and colleges,they alsoshould be responsible for the study and life of their students,that is tosay,teahers are the second parents of children somewhile.
for us,as a friend of others,it is our responsibility to help our friendswhen they are in trouble or faced with difficulties. each one has the differentresponsibily based on their roles but we must take it for granted that we areresponsible for the society.

since the quality of honesty applies to all behaviors, one cannot refuse toconsider factual information, for example, in an unbiased manner and still claimthat one's knowledge, belief or position is an attempt to be truthful. such abelie
f is clearly a product of one's desires and simply has nothing to do withthe human ability to know. basing one's positions on what one wants — ratherthan unbiased evidence gathering — is dishonest even when good intentions can becited — after all even hitler could cite good intentions and intended glory fora select group of people. clearly then, an unbiased approach to the truth is arequirement of honesty.
because intentions are closely related to fairness and certainly affect thedegree of honesty/dishonesty, there is a wide spread confusion abouthonesty--and a general belief that being dishonest means that one alwayscorrectly understands if their behavior is either honest or dishonest.self-perception of our morality is non-static and volatile. it's often at themoment we refuse to consider other perspectives that there is a clear indicationwe are not pursuing the truth, rather than simply and exclusively at the momentwe can muster up evidence that we are right. socrates had much to say abouttruth, honesty and morality, and explained that if people really understood thattheir behavior was wrong — then they simply wouldn't do it — by definition.unfortunately, honesty in the western tradition has been marginalized tospecific instances — perhaps because a thorough understanding of honestycollides with ideologies of all types. ideologies and idealism often exaggerateand suppress evidence in order to support their perspectives — at the expense ofthe truth. this process erodes the practice and understanding of honesty. to anideologist the truth quite often becomes insignificant, what matters most aretheir ideals and what ever supports their desires to enjoy and spread thoseideals.
human beings are inherently biased about what they believe to be good dueto inpidual tastes & backgrounds, but once one understands that adecidedly biased approach to what is true — is inherently dishonest, one canalso understand how idealism and ideology have poorly served the quest for anhonest, moral society. both honesty and morality require that we base ouropinions about what is good — upon unbiased ideas of what is true — rather thanvice versa (determining what is true based on what we feel is good) — the wayall ideologies would have us believe.
